100 Days Of Summer, Part II | madison photographer

We endured that brutal winter, and I promised myself I would celebrate each glorious day of summer if it ever arrived!

I recently heard someone frame their kids’ years in summers….as in I have 8 more summers left with Jack before he leaves for college. Only eight more?  That feels like an impossibly small number.  They all do–even just fifteen for Ben.  Out of a lifetime of summers, these are the ones we’ll be together.  Let’s get to it.

Part II | Please see Part I here!

Day 51

Girlfriend Brunch.

Day 52

Just a little morning chaos….dishes on the counter, shirtless, bedheaded.  You do not like to be photographed, yet, fascinatingly, you ask me everyday if I have my shot for this project.  I’m amazed how you can just reach right into the cabinet and self-serve your drink.  In both height and independence you have had such measurable growth since I last blinked. xo

Day 53

Why, yes.  You are walking in the summer rain with your pants on backwards.  xo

Day 54

It’s sixty degrees today.  In July! We’re all wearing pants and long sleeves and socks.  We snuggle on the couch, read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (even though we’re having a lovely day), and you break up the melcholocolic story by making an impromptu sock pocket who says, “Hello!” in 4 different voices.  xo

Day 55

I do believe this will be remembered as The Summer of Pokemon.

Day 56

Another perfect evening walk to the lake.  Bellies full, we stretch our legs on a 1-block and 1-grassy field stroll to the dock’s edge.  The boathouse is busily sending out paddle boarders and boaters onto the calm water.  You take off your mismatched boots, dip your toes and decide you must be on the move.  xo

Day 57

Post-swim hair, watermelon for lunch.  xo

Day 58

Your brothers are in Chicago and we got to explore a new park.  You absolutely love the longer-than-ever leash and the freedom of being The Cheif Decider for the weekend.  xo
