COVID can put a real damper on a whole lot of our favorite things, but home and community still rally all the heart feels. I joined up with this happy, curious crew on a spectacularly gorgeous summer night. Kate & Jesse radiate joy–no joke, their smiles and engagement with their two boys make everything seem easy and normal. You know that’s a gift if, in this weird year, two people can summon easy and normal with such aplomb!
The backyard offers everything from a garden, hammock, sandbox, to a super cool hex play structure that reminds me of my own childhood! But not to be outdone by a cozy deck that I would give anything for this year–all of this is an intimate place to connect as a family. And not to be outdone by a lively beach and park just a hop, skip, and a jump away. I’ve raised three boys in what I affectionally call a postage-stamp-sized yard, but Lake Wingra and Wingra Park have been like second living rooms to us. Leo and Miles, I strongly believe, have the best of both worlds with their own cozy space and limitless lake and park!
Grandma knows ALL the best sing-song chants & knee bounces to grab smiles!
Curlicue slides, swings, and waves bring out smiles.
Watch out for some serious bubble action!
I mean, c’mon, Madison! You’re just showing off now 🙂 Barefoot at tTenney Beach is just a spectacular way to end a summer night.
Interested in your own backyard (and maybe park and beach) family photo session too? Check out these ideas for an outdoor session this summer and fall.
