On a blustery November day before Thanksgiving, Sarah and the twins made their favorite apple pie recipe. Sarah opened an old cookbook and Hazel found the right page to get everyone started.
Karsten uses an old-fashioned apple peeler that is clamped to the counter while Hazel steadies a bowl of peels below. They take turns and repeat this process to get all the apples peeled.
Sarah and Karsten slice apples while Hazel continues to read the directions and ingredients from the cookbook.
Karsten and Sarah both slices apples while Hazel assembles the spices.
Karsten tosses peeled and sliced apples into a pie plate.
Sarah demonstrates how to use the lemon juicer.
Karsten is ready to flatten Sarah’s pie crust with the French rolling pin. Sarah masterfully rolls out her pie crust. Hazel sneaks a little pie filling as Sarah rolls out the crust and Karsten watches.Sarah pats the sides of the pie plate. The filling is dotted with butter cubes. The kids make extra mini pies with leftover apple pie filling and dough.
