Madison Family Photographer | Farewell, Madison

There was snow on the ground when Soyoung told me that they would be leaving for the East Coast at the end the summer. A job in Boston was calling. And so before the boxes were packed, we set out to capture a bit of Madison in this four-part storytelling series.

We started at their park–swings, slides, bridge, wheeee!

I was thrilled to be able to get this snippet of childhood. Young girl pulls out a tooth. For a family who spends hours and hours at the neighborhood pool, I was delighted that Cordelia walked right through a sea of towels and suits. Not only does it offer a huge pop of color, it really speaks to this exact time–both summer, this house before they move, and the size of the swimsuits will later be a reminder of the girls’ ages. Young girl walks across back patio next to the beach towels and swimsuits set outside to dry.She touches a homemade wind chime on the way through her yard.

Here is what Soyoung shared about working with me:

Jen’s work speaks for itself – she captures those moments that you always want to hold onto and hope they are never erased from your memory. I love Jen’s eye for details and her use of natural light. But I also want to talk about my experience with her during our photo shoot. I was nervous about being photographed – I am never quite at ease to be the focus of a camera’s attention. But our time together during the shoot was more than I had hoped for. Jen was able to put me at ease and rather than having photos of me looking very wooden, I have photos where I look natural and relaxed. If you are looking for a photographer to see beyond the surface and capture the spirit of the moment, Jen is that photographer.

Thank you, Soyoung!

If you have a special Madison Family Photography sessions you would like documented, please let me know! I’d love to work with you!
