These two beautiful sisters share a special bond on a cool, autumn hike.
We turned onto a path to get a closer look at a little stream and where deer often congregate. We didn’t find any deer, but to our great surprise, we found that someone has put an old-fashioned rope and wooden bench swing in the clearing. What fun to spend a good chunk of time swinging with the autumn sun sinking behind us. The sisters took turns pushing each other–such joy!
I’ve started to use more intentional blur in images. Not only do I think it’s beautiful and interesting, but I also want to remember what this time to feel like. There are many ways I do this within my work–expression, composition, light to name a few–but I’m now using motion blur as an intentional technique to bring the viewer into the image.
Mom and daughter share a moment walking back. There will be a time, not long from now, that she will not be able to hold her youngest child and walk back on a long path. The last time will not announce itself–it never does; I do not remember the last time my teenage son reached for my hand when crossing the street or when he last needed my boost to help him turn off the light in his room. While we can’t stop kids growing and time marching on, we can notice the moment and be present with it. These are the things I’m on the lookout for when I have a family session with you–details that show you what today looks like, feels like. It’s so good.
Mom said this about working with me on an official review:
Jen did an amazing job of capturing the innocence of my daughters and the outdoor wonder our family loves to explore. She was very flexible in Wisconsin’s unpredictable climate. She had an incredible turnaround considering the holiday season.
