And then there were four….
Autumn sunshine pours through the sliding glass doors, a welcome relief from recent gray days. Bacon and coffee fill the kitchen air. Stella snuggles into Sarah’s chest, Matt flips pancakes and assembles a plate to be shared. Marlo takes in the scene from the breakfast counter, her bauble-d crown fitting squarely on her toddler queen head.
Life takes on a new normal, a new ordinary, as everyone adjusts to a Family of Four.
. In the kitchen, the smell of bacon and fresh coffee set the tone for a slow, cozy morning. Sarah gently cradled Stella in her arms, the newborn nestled against her chest, while Matt flipped pancakes with the focus of a seasoned pro, preparing breakfast for everyone.
The house buzzed with an easy rhythm—Matt assembling plates, Sarah feeding Stella, and Marlo offering up some toddler commentary on the state of the pancakes. It was simple, beautiful, and real. Life had shifted. It was a new normal, a new ordinary. The family was finding their rhythm, adjusting to the chaos and calm of being a family of four.
In this documentary-style session, I had the privilege of capturing the quiet moments that made up their new day-to-day—a reminder that the most beautiful memories are often the simplest, unposed moments.
Sarah shared these beautiful words with me:
Jen isn’t just a photographer, she’s an artist. She approaches each family and each session with open eyes and maybe more importantly, an open heart, and because of that she captures your real story — the whole big, imperfect, glorious, beautiful mess of it, and it’s priceless. I have never worked with anyone like Jen before, and I mean that in the best way. The photos she has taken of both my babies, and our family, are my most prized possessions. She has spoiled me for any other photographer, ever.
